The story, Bartholomew Investigates how to Use Water Wisely, tells the tale of a bird named Bartholomew who learns what it really means to conserve water when his teacher, Mrs. Hatfrie, asks the class to think of ways to save water. At first, Bartholomew decides he won’t use water at all but his teacher and his parents soon show him there are better ways to conserve water without giving it up altogether. He learns that he can plant California Friendly plants, turn off the sprinklers when it rains, collect rain water to water plants, brush his teeth while he showers, fix leaky pipes, water the lawn in the evening, and fill up the sink to wash dishes instead of letting the water run. Ultimately, Bartholomew learns that everyone can do their part to conserve water.
